About:
The season of giving is underway at Mineola Middle School, where the Community Action Club has officially kicked off its annual Thanksgiving Food Drive. Each year, this beloved tradition brings learners, families, and staff together to support MMS families in need — and this year’s goal is the biggest yet: 1,500+ donated items.
Classes have been assigned specific food items needed to assemble complete Thanksgiving meals for local families. Collection boxes are located near the library for easy drop-off through November 14th, helping ensure that students maintain classroom focus while still supporting the cause.
In addition to the food drive, MMS will host its 9th annual Turkey Trot. For just $1, learners and teachers can join the fun during recess, looping around the bus circle in support of the fundraiser. All Turkey Trot proceeds will go toward purchasing turkeys and additional food items to round out the Thanksgiving baskets.
Last year, the MMS community collected nearly 1,400 items and proudly provided more than 29 families with complete Thanksgiving dinners. With the community’s help, this year promises to be even more impactful.
A heartfelt thank-you goes to every student, teacher, and family for their generosity, enthusiasm, and continued support — and to Ms. Palumbo and Mrs. Critchley for leading the Community Action Club in another year of meaningful service. Together, Mineola Middle School continues to show what kindness, teamwork, and community can accomplish.
