About:

Minnesauke Elementary School in the Three Village Central School District is in the spirit of giving ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday. Students participated in several service projects to give back to the community and those in need.

First graders helped bake pumpkin bread to donate to the food pantry at St. James Church in Setauket. Students mixed the ingredients together with the assistance of parent volunteers. They also created labels to package the bread.

Mr. Harvey and Mr. Dowling’s sixth grade classes designed Thanksgiving plates for NY 1.27, a nonprofit that donates money and goods to children in the foster care system across Long Island. Students designed the plates in hopes that those in need can have a festive Thanksgiving meal. Additionally, sixth graders collected food to donate to the organization to be distributed to group homes across the area.
