About:
The Girls’ Softball Program (mod., JV, Varsity teams) joined the efforts of Senior MW Gloria Vasquez’ in collecting donations for the
Orange County based organization, Fearless. Fearless ( O.C. Safe Homes ) helps survivors of domestic abuse get back on their feet after leaving
their abusive past. Gloria chose this organization for her Senior Government class project. Although Gloria is not a participant in the softball
program she has been connected with the softball coaches as a P.E. student. The softball program worked with Gloria in helping to collect donations
of clothing, food, toiletries and toys that will help survivors in their quest to “start over”. We are happy to announce that on Sat. May 22nd, we packed
a large SUV and car in donations.

Community Service is an important aspect of our program and every year we work towards multiple service projects with our players. This year we chose a multifaceted event to run to both support our local softball community and also support the FEARLESS organization by holding a donation drive. This organization supports people escaping from domestic violence that are in need of essentials to restart their lives after leaving dangerous environments. Our Softball Program at MW held a donation drive in support of this outstanding organization that is meeting the needs of the vulnerable people they serve. In addition to the drive, we conducted a skills and drills clinic for 2 hours for the young players playing softball in our community and in our school system. Our varsity players demonstrated and instructed various skills in small groups throughout this time. Upon completing the clinic, we collected our donations from those in attendance and players in our program and distributed to the FEARLESS organization.
It is a priority in our softball program to instill a sense of community and responsibility in addition to building a winning program. Our players did an outstanding job of accomplishing both goals on May 22nd by hosting this clinic, as well as gathering an abundance of supplies for the FEARLESS organization.
