This past Tuesday, February 4th, the hardwood court became a sea of orange as the community came together for the special “Gio Strong Game.” The matchup between the Rams and Tigers was about more than basketball—it was a powerful display of unity and support for Gio.

Gio is a student and friend at Clarkstown North High School. Before the start of the school year, he suffered a life-threatening injury, and since then, students and the community have rallied around him through fundraising efforts, athletic events, and regular visits.

In a moving tribute, the Clarkstown North Basketball team, along with their families and friends, wore orange “Gio Strong” shirts in his honor. Before the game, the team shared this powerful message:

“Proving that miracles do happen, Gio has made incredible progress on his medical journey. He has inspired his peers and community to fight through challenges, seize opportunities, and take nothing for granted. The Clarkstown North Boys Basketball program dedicates this game and the season to Gio and his resilience. We cannot wait for Gio to win this battle, and we hope that he, his family, and the Clarkstown community remain motivated and inspired. Gio and his family are watching the livestream today.
