About:
The Mount Pleasant Ice Cats Hockey Team is proud to represent a unique and diverse collaboration of student-athletes from Westlake, Pleasantville, Valhalla, Briarcliff, and Hastings. United by their shared love of the game, the Ice Cats have built a program rooted in teamwork, sportsmanship, and a deep commitment to service—strengthening bonds not only among players, but across families and school communities.
A cornerstone of the team’s outreach is its annual “Pink the Rink” event, a unifying initiative dedicated to raising awareness and funds in the fight against breast cancer. This special night brings together players, coaches, families, fans, and school communities from across Mount Pleasant, fostering meaningful cross-community connections around a shared purpose. Through coordinated fundraising efforts, community donations, and Ice Cats apparel sales, the event transforms a hockey game into a powerful platform for compassion, education, and collective impact. All funds raised are donated to the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Foundation, supporting groundbreaking research, treatment, and care for individuals and families affected by breast cancer.
More than a fundraiser, Pink the Rink exemplifies the power of collaboration and unity. By intentionally bringing together multiple school communities, the Mount Pleasant Ice Cats demonstrate how interscholastic athletics can transcend boundaries and rivalries to address issues far greater than the sport itself. Their commitment to supporting childhood cancer reflects the values of empathy, leadership, and shared responsibility that define the Mount Pleasant community. Through these efforts, the Ice Cats continue to make a lasting impact—on the ice and beyond—while setting a meaningful example of service-driven leadership for student-athletes across New York State.
