MS Honors Hope for Histiocytosis
Students and staff sported blue shirts at East Islip Middle School on Jan. 26 in recognition of Histiocytosis Awareness Day, which had been declared via a Suffolk
County bill sponsored by Legislator Tom Cilmi. Both the bill and the day were inspired by East Islip student Taylor Ryan, who has been living with the rare disease Langerhans cell histiocytosis since 2010.
According to Taylor’s mother, Teresa Ryan, $323 was raised for the Taylor’s Hope Foundation for histiocytosis research by selling awareness bracelets during
