About:
Students in the Kindness Club at Munsey Park School in Manhasset are practicing empathy and kindness through a service-learning experience. Students gathered before school to take part in the Blankets of Hope program.
Blankets of Hope is a nonprofit that partners with schools to donate blankets to people facing homelessness. The organization sent blankets to Munsey Park and students participated in a short kindness workshop before writing letters to be packaged with the blankets. The blankets and letters were then sent to the Pax Christi Hospitality Center in Port Jefferson, an emergency shelter that offers men who are homeless a safe place to stay.
Students were eager to display kindness through their handwritten letters and take part in the impactful project that taught them what it feels like to give to those who are less fortunate.
