In honor of Music in Our Schools Month, W. T. Clarke MS celebrated students’ musical abilities
In the East Meadow School District, W. T. Clarke Middle School student-musicians , which include a few student athletes, celebrated their musical talents throughout March. The National Association for Music Education identifies March as Music in Our Schools Month, where schools across the nation focus on music education.
During the month, music students participated in the school’s Practice-A-Thon raising money for Long Island Cares. Long Island Cares is a hunger assistance organization helping individuals and families across Long Island. Practice-A-Thon strengthened students’ practice habits while encouraging empathy by sponsors pledging a donation for every minute students documented their daily music practice.
In addition, Clarke Middle School Troubadour String Ensemble and Jazz Band shared their musical talents throughout the hallways with weekly performances.
