About:
Everyone can remember the excitement of attending prom and the planning and prepping that went into making the event a memorable one. Thanks to the Cold Spring Harbor High School Amnesty International Club, which has 36 members in grades 7-12, the school’s annual Prom Donation Drive was a huge success. During this year’s event, spearheaded by club officers, seniors Gabby Gerra and Melanie Golden and junior Tyler Gray, along with club adviser and social studies teacher Alison Halloran, students and community residents generously donated everything needed to be dressed for a special occasion including beautiful dresses, shoes, jewelry, evening bags and accessories. The club collaborates with The Long Island Volunteer Center of Garden City, who has hosted a Prom Boutique event at Nassau Community College for the past 28 years. The event pivoted during the pandemic to an online order and fulfillment program enabling local high schools to confidentially distribute the donated items free of charge to young women who cannot absorb the costs associated with their prom or graduation. Thank you to all who donated to help make someone’s dream of attending their prom come true.
