About:
New Hyde Park Memorial teachers Mrs. Marjorie Lyn and Mrs. Angela Mejia collaborated by joining students in the Career Development Program I and The Child Psychology and Development classes to create “Teddy Grams.” The purpose of the project was to nurture peer relationships and emphasize the importance of giving back to the community. The students worked diligently and successfully together by sewing and stuffing numerous teddy bears and then donating them to the children of The Ronald McDonald House of Long Island in New Hyde Park.
Upon completing the project, the students learned the importance of community service and how volunteering their time can bring joy to many others and simultaneously provide them with a rewarding sentiment. On April 21, Mrs. Lyn, Mrs. Mejia and Mrs. Carol Quinones delivered the “Teddy Grams” to the Ronald McDonald House. The Ronald McDonald House family was extremely grateful and touched by the time and efforts the students put into the project to make their children happy.
