About:
Student-athletes from Nipmuc Regional High School and Oxford High School came together for their 3rd Annual Play 4 Kids Childhood Cancer Awareness Game, using athletics as a platform to support children and families affected by cancer.
This year’s event partnered with Team Ava to support Gretel, a 15-year-old battling AML, and to raise funds for her family and the Jimmy Fund Clinic. The game highlighted the power of school communities rallying around a cause bigger than competition.
The evening featured JV and Varsity matchups, along with concession sales, a 50/50 raffle, pledges, and other fundraising efforts designed to maximize community involvement and impact. Student-athletes, coaches, and supporters all played a role in making the event meaningful and successful.
Play 4 Kids continues to demonstrate how high school athletics can inspire compassion, leadership, and service. Through intentional planning and student involvement, Nipmuc and Oxford created an experience that raised awareness, provided direct support to a family in need, and strengthened community connections.
