About:
The girls’ soccer teams recently dedicated a game to Sarah Duval, honoring her memory and raising awareness for childhood cancer. The idea came from Marblehead Coach Lisa Wales, whose family and community share several connections with Sarah and her family. Lisa’s son plays hockey with Sarah’s older brother at Holderness, and Sarah’s mother, Stacy Duval—a NAHS graduate and current kindergarten teacher—has long-standing ties with local families. Additionally, McKenna Mohr, a current NAHS sophomore and former participant in the soccer program, was a close friend of Sarah growing up.
Senior captains at North Andover: Kate Fy, Cate Scully, Whitney Smith, and Emily Storch led the effort to give back to the community. All players wore orange ribbons in their hair, and the team successfully raised $1,900 for the Sarah Strong Foundation.
Before the game, the Athletic Director spoke about Sarah, making the dedication a moving and memorable moment. The event highlighted the strength of two communities coming together to support a meaningful cause.
