About:
The Girls Lacrosse team recently came together for a hands-on service project, assembling thoughtful birthday cake kits to donate to PACH. Each kit was carefully packed with baking essentials—cake mix, frosting, candles, and more—ensuring that families facing hardship can still celebrate life’s most important moments.
What made this initiative especially meaningful was the personal touch behind every kit. Players handwrote baking instructions and included heartfelt cards, turning a simple donation into something deeply human and uplifting. The addition of a can of soda in each kit—an innovative substitute for eggs or oil—highlighted the team’s thoughtfulness and attention to real-life needs.
This effort was inspired by a firsthand experience volunteering at PACH, where the idea for birthday cake kits first took shape. Wanting to create a meaningful and engaging way for student-athletes to give back, the project was brought to the lacrosse team, giving players the opportunity to actively participate in every step. Each athlete contributed items, and the team assembled the kits after practice, transforming service into a shared, memorable experience.
More than just a donation drive, this initiative became a lesson in empathy, leadership, and community connection. It showed student-athletes that even small acts of kindness—when done together—can have a powerful impact.
