About:
The North Softball team once again stepped up to make a difference, raising both awareness and donations for the Hudson Valley Make-A-Wish Foundation. But this year carried extra significance as the team proudly celebrated its 10th Annual Make-A-Wish Game, marking a decade of heartfelt tradition, generosity, and community spirit.
Since launching the initiative in 2013, North Softball had raised an impressive $16,455 for the local Make-A-Wish chapter — and that total didn’t even include this year’s contributions. Despite a two-year pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the team remained deeply committed, making 2025 their 12th year of involvement and their 10th official game.
What started as a simple idea grew into a beloved annual tradition. Each year, the team organized a week-long fundraising campaign leading up to the big game, where players, coaches, and fans came together in a show of blue — the official Make-A-Wish color. The game day celebration included decorations, themed uniforms, and a special invitation for Make-A-Wish representatives to join the festivities.
Their most successful (and delicious) fundraising method? Selling icee-ice pops at school, a strategy that proved wildly popular. In fact, last year alone, the team sold over 1,500 ice pops, helping to boost their annual donation total significantly. Additional contributions flowed in from game-day donations, with the entire event becoming a powerful blend of sport and service.
Over the years, more than 70 varsity softball players had taken part in the fundraiser, each adding their energy and heart to the cause. Through colorful flyers and thank-you posters collected year after year, the team’s commitment to bringing hope to children facing critical illnesses was made clear — and celebrated.
As the North Softball team took the field for their 10th Annual Make-A-Wish Game, they did so with pride, knowing they were part of something much bigger than the game itself. They had built a legacy of compassion — one blue ice pop, one dollar, and one wish at a time.
