About:

As part of the school’s focus on character development for students, Norwood Avenue Elementary has invoked “The Great Kindness Challenge.” The challenge consists of completing 50 acts of kindness, and those who finish are rewarded with their photo posted in the hallways as a recognition of their commitment to the challenge and to being kind.

To help inspire and motivate the students, the challenge included five themed days this year, including a “Peace, Love and Kindness” day where students dresses as hippies and an “I Dream of Kindness” day for students to wear their pajamas. The challenge was developed by the school’s Leadership Club to support the focus on kindness as part of character development. It also spans all grade levels, so any student can partake.

Thus far, both students and their families have been very supportive and have enjoyed checking off their acts of kindness for the challenge. Additionally, students created a video of kindness, sharing kind words and support for one another. The video was then shared with families and all students to help inspire them to finish the challenge.
