“I’m the girls basketball coach at Norwood and our program was involved with the “I Found the Light Against All Odds” fundraiser this past Sunday. This organization is housed out in Springfield, MA and its mission is to provide homeless teenage girls with housing options. It aims to shine a light on the resources needed to provide these girls with adequate living arrangements. They partnered with Jack Conway Realty and the Dana Barros Center to run this event.
About 20 girls from our program showed up to play pickup and other games while attendees at the event bid on auction items and purchased raffle tickets. The Director spoke to our girls about the need for these resources and explained that this is a problem even in our backyard in Norwood. On a personal note, it was important for our kids to be a part of this event so they can appreciate the privileges they have and also understand the needs around them and how they can make a difference. “
