About:
We are a large school that consists of a cluster of towns and 2 little league programs, specifically Haverstraw and Stony Point Little Leagues. We, as a varsity program, wanted to “give back” to the little leagues and help our younger generation of players. We decided to make it a “free” 3 day clinic over this spring break with the hopes of getting donations for two charities/foundations: the Mental Health Association of Rockland and NR Tiny Helpers. Our team and program feel a connection to both of these organizations. As a program and community we have lost players and relatives of players to suicide and we felt it was important to stop the stigma of not talking about it and raise awareness about it.
Tiny Helpers is a local non profit geared toward helping North Rockland students and families in need. It was a “no brainer” to pick these two foundations and charities.
We have collected close to $500 the last 3 days, but we are having our “Mental Health (Tara Csernecky memorial) game May 11th, in which we will try to raise more funds-selling baked goods, etc.
Once the game has been played we will then split up the fundraising monies between organizations.
