About:
Over the past 3 years the Nyack varsity volleyball program has been hosting a dig pink game dedicated to a member or members of our community. It all started when the cause hit close to home. One of our former players Maya Owens mother Nancy a close friend to the program and community was battling breast cancer. The team then decided to work together on supporting, raising awareness and fighting alongside Nancy who is one of our own. Since then the team holds a dig pink game to recognize and support someone in our community. They raise money by selling pink paper volleyballs, collecting donations, and selling baked goods during the match. This year the game was played against Clarkstown South and both Nyack along with Clarkstown South warm up with the same shirts to support the cause. The game this year was dedicated to Kristen Betker a close friend of the head coach Christian Collazo family and Catharine Van Dorn sister of Renne Van Dorn a beloved member of the Nyack schools athletic department. The Nyack varsity, JV volleyball players and coaching staff take a lot of pride in this match. They understand the importance and are doing everything they can to help and support members of our loved community that might be battling or battled with breast cancer.
