About:
The lacrosse program at Ossining High School is once again using the game to bring its community together for a meaningful cause during its annual “Stick It to Cancer” event against Hen Hud.
This year’s game holds special significance as the junior and senior classes honor the memory of their first lacrosse coach, Michael Variano, who courageously battled cancer. Coach Variano’s impact extended far beyond the field, helping build the culture of brotherhood, pride, and family that continues to define the Ossining lacrosse program today.
The event is dedicated not only to Coach Variano’s legacy, but also to everyone in the community affected by cancer — honoring those who have been lost, supporting those still fighting, and recognizing the families standing beside them throughout their journeys.
Through fundraising, awareness, and community support, Ossining Lacrosse continues to demonstrate how athletics can unite people around causes that matter most. Events like “Stick It to Cancer” serve as powerful reminders that sports can create lasting impact, inspire compassion, and strengthen communities far beyond the final score.
