About:
“I am currently the Ossining JV Volleyball Coach, as well as a former JV and Varsity player for the program and a graduate from the Ossining Schools. Jose was my dad who passed away a couple of months ago. He, along with the rest of my family (Mom and two sisters), used to attend almost every single home and away game and support the team/program in many ways. The Ossining Volleyball Program was more than just a team for all of us, it was another family. Due to my new position as the JV Coach this year, I can assume this game was created for the sole purpose of supporting my family and honoring a great “volleyball dad”. Something to reciprocate the amount of support that he used to give to the team.
For the game itself, a couple people joined together to create beautiful shirts that were worn by the players (as warm-ups that day) and the coaches, as well as order extras to be sold before, during, and after the game. All the funds collected from the shirts will be donated in Jose’s name to the charity or organization of my family’s choosing.
It definitely was a beautiful and special day full of community members, family members, former players, and friends. The crowd was full of people wearing the memoriam Ossining Volleyball shirts. We had a great turnout. “- Lauren Ojito
