About:
Pink Out at Leighton Gym
The Boys Varsity and JV Basketball teams led the evening’s community initiative by hosting a Breast Cancer Awareness Night at Leighton Gym. With fans encouraged to “Pink Out” the stands, the event created an energetic and unified atmosphere as Oswego faced Nottingham.
Moments like these demonstrate how athletics can serve as a platform to raise awareness, foster empathy, and rally communities around meaningful causes.
Full Day of Competition Across Programs
The Holiday Home Games also showcased the dedication and school pride of Oswego’s hockey programs. The Girls Varsity Hockey team opened the day at the Fort Rink with an afternoon matchup against Alexandria Bay, while the Boys Varsity Hockey team took the ice later that evening against the Cortland Golden Eagles.
By bringing multiple teams and events together on one day, Oswego Athletics created a strong sense of school spirit while reinforcing the importance of supporting one another both on and off the playing surface.
Athletics as a Vehicle for Awareness and Unity
Through initiatives like Breast Cancer Awareness Night, Oswego student-athletes continue to demonstrate leadership beyond the scoreboard. Their efforts to engage fans, promote awareness, and build community connections reflect the powerful role school sports can play in inspiring service, compassion, and collective impact.
