About:
Student leaders from Oyster Bay High School are making a meaningful impact beyond the classroom, demonstrating how education and community service go hand in hand.
This past Saturday, members of the AP Environmental Science class and Environmental Club dedicated their time to giving back during I Love My Parks Day. Working alongside Mrs. McDougal and Mrs. Sanborn, students volunteered at Caumsett State Historic Park Preserve, a treasured local природный space known for its rich biodiversity and scenic landscapes.
Students played an active role in supporting local ecosystems by planting broomsedge and plantain—native species that will help establish a new “Butterfly Hill.” This hands-on effort contributes to creating a sustainable habitat that supports pollinators and enhances the park’s natural beauty.
More than just a day of service, this initiative highlights student leadership and environmental stewardship in action. By participating in projects like this, students are not only learning about environmental science—they are living it, taking tangible steps to protect and preserve their community.
The impact goes beyond the park itself. Through collaboration, teamwork, and a shared commitment to making a difference, these students are helping build a stronger, more environmentally conscious future.
