About:
Continuing its mission to foster a culture of kindness, Hampton Bays Middle School held P.S. I Love You Day, an initiative where students took part in a variety of activities throughout the week of Feb. 10. Now in its 10th year, P.S. I Love You Day aims to raise awareness about bullying and suicide while promoting kindness.
Students embraced the theme with eagerness. They shared inspirational messages with their peers by leaving notes on their lockers, Skyped with P.S. I Love You Day founder Brooke DiPalma and signed “love beach balls” that will be hung in the school’s lunchroom. They also decorated an “I Am” wall by penning notes on purple hearts and green leaves about something they had to overcome. In addition, they raised money for Joe’s Project, a Family Service League program that supports those surviving loss by suicide, by selling love buttons and beads. To culminate the week, students wore purple to school on Friday and enjoyed a love-themed photo booth.
