About:
Before their recent league game, members of the Pat-Med and Bay Shore/Islip Field Hockey teams came together for a special moment of reflection, taking time to honor those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. In a display of unity and respect, the teams stood together in remembrance of the heroes and victims of that tragic day.
This powerful gesture of solidarity showcases the impact that sports teams can have beyond the field. By pausing to remember 9/11, these young athletes demonstrated their understanding of the importance of honoring the past and the significance of community. It’s through moments like these that sports teams become more than just competitors—they become a source of inspiration and remembrance for all.
The tribute served as a reminder that, even in competition, there are times when the game takes a backseat to something much larger: remembering and respecting those who made the ultimate sacrifice. The Pat-Med and Bay Shore/Islip teams exemplified what it means to come together in unity, both as athletes and as members of a community.
We commend both teams for their thoughtful tribute, reminding us all to never forget the lives lost on 9/11.
