About:
The Patchogue-Medford SAAC (Student-Athlete Advisory Committee) is bringing student-athletes together to recognize the individuals who dedicate their lives to serving and protecting their communities through its Hometown Hero Challenge.
Created in honor of September 11, the initiative invites each Pat-Med athletic team to select a Hometown Hero to recognize and thank for their service. Heroes may include military members, firefighters, police officers, EMTs, and other first responders who have made a difference in the community.
The challenge provides student-athletes with an opportunity to learn more about the individuals who serve others while personally expressing their gratitude for their dedication and sacrifice.
The Hometown Hero Challenge is still underway, with additional Pat-Med teams expected to participate before the initiative concludes. Already, student-athletes have had the opportunity to honor and pay tribute to more than five members of the community who have served in the military.
Through each recognition, the athletes are learning that service extends far beyond the playing field and that taking the time to acknowledge those who give back can have a meaningful impact.
As more teams participate, Pat-Med SAAC looks forward to recognizing additional Hometown Heroes and sharing their stories with the school community.
Stay tuned as the Hometown Hero Challenge continues and more Pat-Med teams recognize the heroes who serve their community.
