About:
On December 20th Whitman Basketball and Cheer partnered with Honeoye High School for a Paws for a Cause Event. The event was held for Wyatt a 7-month-old with Congenital diaphragmatic hernia -CDH.
Wyatt is the brother of varsity Basketball player Noah and his parents are both integral members of the basketball community. Wyatt’s mom serves on the Basketball Boosters and Wyatt’s dad volunteers his time doing the book for the boys’ varsity team, as well as selling 50/50 at many home games. They are family!
As Whitman athletics and community is known for being a family orientated district they came together this evening to raise funds for Wyatt’s fight.
Prior to the evening, the basketball players took time to raise awareness for the event and volunteered their time to collect donations. The athletes were instrumental in the planning, promotion, and execution of the event.
During the game versus Honeoye High School Both the varsity teams played, while all the JV players worked various fundraising tables. It was a total program effort that was amazing to witness.
Neighboring schools districts including Seneca Falls and Bloomfield Schools aided in the fight by generously donating to the cause.
This event brought the already tight-knit ocmmunity even closer together!
