About:
The Byram Hills Ice Hockey team started their month long fundraising campaign for breast cancer research before the holiday break in December. By mid January the team was full speed ahead, and through bake sales, chuck-a-puck, merchandise sales and their GoFundMe page they were able to raise $10,086.
On the night of the game, January 31st, the environment was electric. Students, faculty and community members showed up to Brewster Ice Arena to support the team and their efforts. The team’s pink jerseys had names written on them for the people they were supporting when they took the ice. Rob Castagna, Director of Athletics said “It is wonderful to see a team come together for a common goal, especially when that goal is to benefit the lives of others around them.” The final score was 3-2, with Byram Hills taking home the Rumble for the Ribbon Cup.
All proceeds from the fundraiser were donated to the American Cancer Society.
