About:
For more than 13 years, the PJHS Varsity Club has proudly volunteered with the League of Yes, an organization dedicated to providing inclusive baseball programs for individuals with disabilities. Each spring, club members head to the Rose Caracappa field, where they assist athletes during weekend baseball games—an annual tradition that has become a cherished part of their service identity.
This year, the club was honored with a special invitation from Kristine Fitzpatrick, the founder and executive director of the League of Yes, to attend the organization’s Annual Breakfast with Santa at The Experience in Hauppauge, NY. The event proved to be deeply meaningful for everyone involved. Club members spent the morning decorating tables, welcoming families in festive costumes, escorting children to meet Santa, and helping them choose holiday gifts. Their enthusiasm and compassion brought joy to dozens of families and made the experience unforgettable.
With approximately 100 student members, the PJHS Varsity Club has already demonstrated remarkable dedication this school year. Collectively, members have volunteered 20–30 hours across a wide range of events and causes. Their efforts include supporting a peer-organized 5K race, assisting at multiple school fundraisers such as the Homecoming Carnival, SEPTA’s Color Run, and a bake sale benefiting a young girl undergoing cancer treatment.
The club also hosted a popular Trick-or-Treat Drive-Through event for local children and participated in the Town of Brookhaven’s Polar Plunge, braving icy waters to raise thousands of dollars in support of Special Olympics New York.
Through every act of service, PJHS Varsity Club continues to showcase leadership, kindness, and community spirit—demonstrating what it means to make a meaningful impact both on and off the field.
