About:
The Pleasantville High School Girls Varsity Soccer team recently took to the field with a higher purpose, dedicating their match against Briarcliff to the Break the Hold (BTH) Foundation in support of suicide prevention and mental wellness. The game, which ended in an exciting victory for Pleasantville, highlighted the team’s commitment not only to athletic excellence but also to raising awareness for an important cause. Even the referee showed his support by wearing purple, the signature color of mental health awareness. 💜
The BTH Foundation was created in memory of Brian Thomas Halloran, a former Pleasantville High School football player who tragically lost his battle with depression and anxiety in 2018. Since its inception, BTH has worked tirelessly to break the stigma surrounding mental health, especially among young people, by providing programs like DBT-STEPS-A, which equips students with emotional coping skills to better handle stress, anxiety, and depression.
By partnering with the BTH Foundation, the Pleasantville Girls Soccer team is making a meaningful impact, both on and off the field. Their dedication to this cause extends beyond the game, as they raise funds and awareness to support BTH’s mission of educating youth about mental health.
The Pleasantville community has always been a strong supporter of BTH, and the soccer team is proud to contribute to this vital effort. The dedicated game was not only a celebration of soccer but also a powerful reminder of the importance of mental wellness and suicide prevention.
