About:
High school athletics are about more than wins and losses, and PLHS Boys Hockey proved just that by teaming up with PLLakersBAA for a meaningful Bags of Smiles community service project.
Student-athletes came together for a night centered on giving back, working side by side to support Bags of Smiles—an organization dedicated to spreading kindness and encouragement to children and families in need. The collaboration highlighted the power of teamwork, not just on the ice, but throughout the community.
Events like this reflect the core values of education-based athletics: leadership, service, and compassion. By stepping off the rink, PLHS Boys Hockey athletes demonstrated how sports can serve as a powerful platform for positive impact, setting an example for younger players and peers alike.
Through their collective efforts, the team packed 500 Bags of Smiles, along with an additional 200 infant bags, providing comfort and support to families during difficult times. Thanks to the dedication of the players, volunteers, and supporters who made the night possible, the project served as a powerful reminder that when teams come together with purpose, the impact reaches far beyond the final buzzer.
