About:
On Saturday, May 3rd, the Port Jefferson Royals Boys Varsity Lacrosse team hosted the Eastport South-Manor Sharks in a heartfelt and high-energy matchup for the first-ever Aidan Kaminska “My Day” Foundation Memorial Lacrosse Game. The event was more than just a game—it was a powerful tribute to Aidan Kaminska, a beloved Port Jefferson graduate who passed away in May 2022, and an inspiring show of community, spirit, and support.
The game was played in front of a packed crowd filled with friends, family, and fans from both schools. It was a day that truly reflected Aidan’s legacy. Head Coach Taylor Forstell described the atmosphere perfectly: “This was the type of environment where Aidan thrived. He gave every ounce of himself to his teammates and the game. The energy in the crowd, the effort on the field—it was exactly the kind of day he would have loved. I hope this becomes a tradition we can grow for years to come.”
The event raised over $3,000 for the Aidan Kaminska “My Day” Foundation, which supports mental health and academic success for student-athletes across the country. The foundation offers scholarships and wellness boxes—care packages filled with mental health resources and positive tools for self-care. Every player from both teams received one of these wellness boxes during the event, a powerful gesture that reinforced the foundation’s mission.
Senior captain and former teammate of Aidan called the game “a perfect reflection of who Aidan was as a player and a teammate.” He continued, “It was an amazing experience all around—Mr. Kaminska’s speech, the fans, the former players in attendance, and the support shown through the wellness boxes. I’m grateful to have been part of it and can’t wait to come back next year as a fan.”
The inaugural memorial game was a beautiful way to celebrate Aidan’s passion for lacrosse and his legacy of strength, positivity, and teamwork. It also served as an important reminder of the need to support student-athletes both on and off the field.
