Residents of Wantagh City Senior Center will receive a colorful greeting card in the mail this holiday season from students enrolled at Mandalay, Forest Lake and Wantagh elementary schools. The students worked hard on designing the perfect holiday message to spread cheer among the seniors.
Miss Wantagh second runner-up Angelina Maciak, a junior from Wantagh High School, presented the project to elementary school students as an extension of her community service.
The Miss Wantagh program encourages winners to participate in community service throughout their tenure. Angelina said she thought that the donation of holiday cards would be the perfect way to cheer up seniors, who have experienced limited visitation this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
