About:
The Queensbury Boys Hockey Team recently hosted its annual “Pink the Rink” game, a heartfelt tradition dedicated to raising awareness and funds for breast cancer research. Players took to the ice in special pink jerseys, each adorned with the name of someone they chose to honor, making the night a powerful tribute to those affected by the disease.
The event featured a variety of fundraising efforts, including apparel sales, basket raffles, and donations, with proceeds benefiting local breast cancer support organizations. A highlight of the evening was the pre-game ceremony, where honorees were recognized, reinforcing the community’s commitment to supporting families facing cancer.
Each year, the team selects a recipient of the fundraising efforts to provide both financial and emotional support. This year’s recipient was a Queensbury second-grade teacher, whose family has deep ties to the district. While the final fundraising total has yet to be confirmed, the generosity and participation of the Queensbury community made the event a tremendous success.
Beyond the competition on the ice, “Pink the Rink” showcases the team’s dedication to making a difference beyond hockey. The night served as a reminder of the power of sports to unite a community for a meaningful cause, providing hope and support to those in need.
