About:
For more than 10 years, the Queensbury Hockey program has proudly partnered with Warren-Hamilton Counties Community Action in Glens Falls to support local families during the holiday season and beyond. What started as a simple food drive has grown into a powerful annual tradition rooted in teamwork, service, and community pride.
Each December, players collect non-perishable food items, which are stored throughout the month in the coaches’ office at the rink. Then, after the holidays—when the need often remains high—the team takes action. Following a practice, players head to Community Action wearing their game jerseys to help restock shelves and ensure families have access to essential food items.
This year’s visit is scheduled for December 30, continuing a meaningful post-holiday tradition that emphasizes showing up when support is needed most.
The team sets an ambitious goal each season: donating more than 1,000 pounds of food. Over the past decade, Queensbury Hockey has surpassed that goal time and again, contributing more than 10,000 pounds of non-perishable items to the community.
This long-standing partnership is a true reflection of the values of the Queensbury Hockey program—using the platform of sport to make a lasting impact off the ice and reminding everyone that being part of a team also means being part of something bigger.
