About:
Babylon Memorial Grade School students recently took part in a musical effort that strengthened their skills, while also supporting a community food bank. Katie Channing, William Brown, Talia Baker, John Cloherty, Allison Higgins and Molly Higgins raised $262.50 for Long Island Cares, the Harry Chapin Food Bank.
During the month of March, music students across New York State were invited to take part in the Harry Chapin Practice-A-Thon with all proceeds going to local food banks. The goal of the Harry Chapin Practice-A-Thon is to strengthen students’ practice habits while supporting New York State local food banks.
Students who participate in the Practice-A-Thon document their daily practice on a calendar. Sponsors pledge an amount of their choice for every minute that student practices in March. Pledges can be anywhere from $.01 per minute and higher.
