About:
A local business, Holy Cow Ice Cream, has close ties with St. Jude’s. I believe one of the family who owns the shop child or grandchild is a St. Jude’s survivor.
One of the many great things about St. Jude’s is that those who have been treated there form a strong bond with them. As you may know, St. Jude’s doesn’t charge families for treatment, so they rely heavily on fundraising activities. Many of those treated “give back” in fund raising events, hence Holy Cow’s sponsoring fundraisers every year.
We, the Red Hook Boy’s Lacrosse program also have strong ties to St. Jude’s. One of our alumni, Jake Marshall, is a St. Jude’s survivor. Jake was diagnosed with a brain tumor at age 2 & 1/2. His family sought and received treatment at St. Jude’s and survived his ordeal to, just recently graduate from SUNY Oswego.
Since Jake was, and continued to be a member of the Red Hook Lacrosse Family, whenever there’s a St. Jude’s fundraising event, we as a team will be there.
This year’s Holy Cow fundraiser was “Ice Cream for Breakfast.” We supported by having ice cream, make individual monetary donations, and supporting our brother Jake.
We look forward to “Ice Cream for Breakfast” again next spring.
