About:
In a moving display of remembrance and unity, Stony Brook Men’s Lacrosse participated in the Tunnel to Towers Run, honoring the memory of those lost on September 11, 2001.
As shared in a repost by Patrick Muffley, the team completed the run in tribute to alumnus Jon Ryan ’90, along with the thousands of lives tragically lost during the September 11 attacks.
The powerful moment captured after the run reflected more than just the completion of a race—it symbolized reflection, respect, and resilience. For the student-athletes, it was an opportunity to connect past and present, honoring one of their own while recognizing the broader significance of that day in American history.
By taking part in the Tunnel to Towers Run, the team demonstrated how athletics can serve as a platform for remembrance and purpose. Their actions showed that the impact of sports extends far beyond competition, creating space for honoring history, building community, and paying tribute to those who will never be forgotten.
Moments like these continue to remind us that even years later, the legacy of 9/11 lives on through acts of unity, service, and remembrance.
