Students in Ms. Maryann Raffaniello’s class at Rhame Avenue Elementary School in the East Rockaway School District hosted a Scholastic Pajama Drive, in which their in-kind donations benefited two organizations.
The students first donated pajamas to The Safe Center LI in Bethpage for the holiday season. The center is a safe place for children and adults who are victims of abuse.
For every pair of pajamas the students donated, Scholastic Book Clubs then turned around and donated a brand-new book to the Pajama Program to give to children who are affected by instability. The Pajama Program is a nonprofit organization that promotes and supports a comforting bedtime routine for children.
