About:
The Riverhead High School Volleyball program used the power of sport to bring attention to an important message during its Mental Health Awareness Game with Ryan’s Team.
The event brought student-athletes, families, and community members together to help raise awareness around mental health and remind everyone of the importance of checking in on one another.
Ryan’s Team joined Riverhead Volleyball for the event, sharing its mission of honoring Ryan’s legacy by supporting initiatives that help people feel seen, valued, and included.
Throughout the day, the message was clear: it’s okay not to be okay.
Student-athletes and fans were encouraged to check in on friends, ask questions, listen, speak up, and seek help when needed. The event also reinforced an important reminder that no one should feel like they have to face difficult moments alone.
By hosting the awareness game, Riverhead Volleyball created an opportunity to go beyond competition and use its platform to support a cause that impacts students, families, and communities everywhere.
The event served as a meaningful example of how high school athletics can help start important conversations, strengthen connections, and encourage young people to look out for one another both on and off the court.
