About:
The Connetquot Central School District Board of Education honored members of the Ronkonkoma Middle School staff during its Jan. 23 meeting for their efforts in raising $3,000 toward the ALS Ride for Life Organization and earning a Gold Participant status for doing so.
Ronkonkoma Middle School hosted several fundraisers including a RampShot tournament, a car wash organized by the school’s National Junior Honor Society and other initiatives spearheaded by Student Council. The community participated in many activities and the school received donations from a local 7-Eleven.
ALS Ride for Life was founded 21 years ago in hopes of combatting amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, along with providing funding toward those diagnosed with the disease.
To date, the organization has raised more than $7 million toward funding ALS research and treatments.
