About:
“Rye Hockey Fights Cancer” game. We have been doing the game since I became the head coach in 2014. In that time, we have worked with Playland Ice to donate the gate from the event along with the money we raise from auctions, raffle, chuck-a-puck, etc. to two very worthy organizations, Memorial Sloan Kettering Westchester, and Soul Ryeders. In addition, to the donation, the team gives time to Soul Ryeders to make fleece blankets which are part of welcome packages that Soul Ryeders gives to newly diagnosed patients. We also make a personal visit to MSKC Westchester to hand deliver the check and tour the facility.
In addition to this, we also have a “Rye Hockey vs Hunger” Initiative in which we collect non-perishable food items over the course of a few weeks and then bring it to the Carver Center in Port Chester where we stock their food pantry.
