About:
This year marks the inaugural Ryetown Harrison Hockey Fights Cancer game, a meaningful initiative aimed at giving back to the community through donations, fundraising, and raising awareness. Players and supporters are coming together to make a lasting impact in the fight against cancer.
The event will feature special decorations and themed gear to show solidarity with those affected by the disease. Both the modified and varsity teams will participate, with games scheduled for February 10th and 11th.
A deeply moving moment of the event will be the recognition of five individuals personally impacted by cancer, including a member of the coaching staff, a classmate of the coach, a varsity player’s grandfather, and a 15-year-old who was diagnosed and tragically passed away at 18. Their stories serve as a powerful reminder of the significance of this cause.
The Ryetown Harrison Hockey Fights Cancer game is more than just a competition—it is a testament to the team’s commitment to supporting those affected by cancer and making a difference. Representing the Harrison, Rye Neck, Blind Brook, and Port Chester school districts, the players hope to establish a lasting tradition that continues to inspire and raise awareness for years to come.
The event will include special moments such as ceremonial puck drops, an “I Fight For” moment of silence, and the announcement of fundraising totals with a giant check presentation—alongside some great hockey. Currently, Ryetown Harrison Hockey ranks as the 9th highest fundraising program in the U.S., an incredible achievement for its first annual event.
This special night is set to be an unforgettable display of unity, remembrance, and community spirit.
