About:
We have been running our softball clinics for the past 37 years . I have a pitching clinic on four Tuesday nights and a skill clinic on four Saturday mornings. All of the girls in my softball program are required to work at them. So , they earn a total of 15 hours a season for the clinics. They also volunteer at the Little League tryouts ( three hours ) and as a team we attend the All Star games and celebrate the girls and watch the game. (four hours) Other volunteer opportunities are volunteering to run a little league practice as well as my varsity players working with me at the coaches clinic.
There are 12 girls on varsity, 13 on jv, and 14 on the modified team.
At the pitching clinic, my pitchers and catchers demonstrate in the middle of the gym, while all of my other players are partnered with one of the young girls ( our clinic is open to girls in grades 2-6). My softball players ” catch ” for their partner while they learn how to pitch. We have 25 girls in this year’s clinic.
The skills clinic is made up of 7 stations ( each station is a specific skill: throwing, hitting, sliding, etc.) The Varsity players are the instructors while the JV/Modified girls are the group leaders. We have over 60 girls enrolled .
The great thing about our clinics is watching the girls go from participating to instructing.
