About:
This is a new campaign that the athletic program as a whole is supporting. A couple of our Cross Country athletes came across a program called “Soles 4 Souls” in which they collect new or gently used shoes to donate to provide relief around the world. Those athletes knew how important this cause is and wanted to make the impact even larger, so they approached our Student Athletic Council to help. Stacey Patalino, DeAnn Sears, our Athletic Director (Steve Musso) and the students in the council all thought this would be an amazing opportunity to involve all of our winter sports in raising awareness and getting shoes donated.
Throughout the winter season, our teams will be holding events or specific games in which they are asking for donations of new or gently used shoes to be able to give to Soles 4 Souls. Those games/events will range, but we would love to update you throughout the season, and when we have also achieved our end goal.
We believe at Skaneateles in doing well. Doing well in the classroom, in academics, and for the community. I feel very fortunate to be involved in an athletics program that wants to come together for a good cause. We plan on continuing to do these types of things, we will keep you updated.
