About:
On October 28th, the Sacred Heart Academy Varsity Field Hockey team took to the field for a game dedicated to Morgan’s Message, a powerful organization working to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental illness. This special match carried a deeper significance, as it aimed to raise awareness and promote open conversations about mental health among student-athletes and the wider community.
Morgan’s Message honors the life of Morgan Rodgers, a former Duke University student-athlete who tragically passed away in July 2019 following a battle with mental health challenges. Inspired by her story, Morgan’s loved ones created this initiative to ensure her legacy would inspire change and provide support for others facing similar struggles.
The Sacred Heart Field Hockey community, led by ambassadors Emily Valeant and Bridget Cummings, showed tremendous dedication in promoting this cause. The game not only highlighted the importance of mental health awareness but also brought people together in remembrance of Morgan’s life and to honor all those impacted by mental illness.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated and supported this meaningful event. Together, we can continue to break the stigma and foster an environment of understanding, compassion, and hope.
