About:
Marina Hollyer and Nola Hollyer, students at Pierson High School, visited Sag Harbor Elementary School’s Morning Program on Dec. 2, to announce the return of the coat drive. The coat drive was last held at the elementary school approximately seven years ago.
The two sisters, graduates of the elementary school, were happy to bring back the coat drive complete with Buddy the Cuddle Monster. Buddy is a furry blue monster that stands in the elementary school lobby “ready to gobble up coats and jackets.”
Seven years ago, the coat drive generated a donation of 200 coats. This year, the Hollyer sisters are encouraging students to surpass that goal. Buddy will be receiving coats and jackets for children who need warmth for two weeks.
During this time, students can also donate to the Mitten Line. The Mitten Line is an annual opportunity to donate items families in need are requesting. At Sag Harbor Elementary, students are giving back to the community in several ways.
