About:
First-graders at South Salem Elementary School in Port Washington participated in the Valentines for Veterans program. These young students spearheaded a schoolwide collection of various items for donation to veterans being cared for in area hospitals. They also created decorative boxes for their donations, as well as heartwarming Valentine’s Day messages to our nation’s heroes.
“Valentines for Veterans is a longstanding program that reminds our veterans that we will never forget all that they have sacrificed for our freedom and safety” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kathleen Mooney. “It also delivers a valuable lesson to students about the importance of showing gratitude and respect for those who have served.”
