About:
Throughout December, the Jonas E. Salk Middle School and General Douglas MacArthur High School community ran a highly successful toy drive, the donations from which were hand-delivered to the Columbia University Irving Medical Center.
In a student-run effort, the joint community amassed dozens of toys to spread holiday cheer to children in need. The effort returns each year in honor of former student Lorenzo Fernandez, who passed away after receiving treatment at the medical center. During the drop-off, principals John Zampaglione and Joseph Sheehan personally delivered the toys to the medical center along with other staff members. The district thanks all who contributed to the important cause.
