About:
When Samantha Heyman’s grandfather lost his leg to diabetes, it transformed the way she understood the importance of helping others. That experience inspired her to become involved with Limb Kind in 2020, where she has proudly served as a student ambassador ever since.
Through fundraising efforts and global outreach initiatives, Samantha has helped support an organization that has aided more than 400 children and donated over 500 prosthetic limbs worldwide. During her time with Limb Kind, she has witnessed the organization grow from raising less than $3,000 annually to nearly $1 million, dramatically expanding access to prosthetic care for individuals in underserved communities around the world.
Locally, Samantha has played a role in the Long Island chapter’s annual “Show Your Shine” runway event, where individuals with limb differences confidently share their stories and celebrate their journeys. What began as a small event with only a few hundred attendees has grown into a sold-out celebration welcoming thousands, reflecting the community’s growing commitment to inclusion and support.
Samantha’s dedication to service also extends to her work with Budding Friendships, where she volunteers alongside individuals with special needs. Whether playing sports, spending time together, or simply showing up consistently, Samantha has learned that inclusion is built through everyday actions and meaningful connections.
In addition to her involvement with these organizations and other school-based service initiatives, Samantha has completed approximately 450 hours of community service throughout her high school career.
Through compassion, leadership, and a commitment to inclusion, Samantha Heyman continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others while inspiring those around her to lead with empathy and purpose.
