About:
Sartell Girls Basketball proudly joined Sauk Rapids Girls Basketball on December 16 to support a Toys for Tots drive held during their game, highlighting the power of collaboration and community spirit within high school athletics.
Invited to take part in the initiative, Sartell student-athletes embraced the opportunity to support a cause dedicated to bringing joy to children and families during the holiday season. While Sartell had hosted its own Toys for Tots game in early December the previous year, the program chose to partner with Sauk Rapids for their holiday game this season, reinforcing the idea that service is even stronger when programs work together.
All Sartell players from grades 9–12 participated by purchasing and donating at least one toy, and families were encouraged to contribute as well. Both the Sartell Sabres and Sauk Rapids teams demonstrated a shared commitment to giving back, creating a meaningful night that extended well beyond the final score.
The experience reflected the core values of Sartell Girls Basketball—teamwork, gratitude, and service. By coming together for the Toys for Tots drive, the two programs showed that rivalries take a back seat when it comes to supporting the greater good.
Moments like this illustrated how athletics can unite communities, turning game nights into opportunities to make a lasting impact and spread holiday cheer throughout the region.
